There may be slight differences between GEMs based onthe release date.
If you have any queries regarding folders please contact support.

It is not strictly correct to refer to these shares as Folders, they are 'areas' on the server.
However for the sake of convenience we will refer to them as Folders.

Shared Folder

  • Each new user is allocated a folder on the share.
  • The shared folder gives access to all users on the network.
  • However only the user that created a file can modify it and save it with the same name.
  • Users that did not create a file can open and edit the file, but can only save it with another name.

Open Folder

  • Each new user has automatic access to the open folder. There is no security.
  • The Open folder gives full read and write access to all users.
  • All users can open all files.
  • All users can overwrite all files.

Private Folder

  • Each new user created on the network is allocated a private folder.
  • The private folder is only accessible with a username and password.

Additional Shared Folders

  • Shared folders can be created in order to restrict access to designated users.
  • Once the share is created individual users can be given access as required.
  • For more information see Creating New Shares
