Deleting files from the Archive

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

WARNING - this process deletes data from your server.

Log in to your server.
Go to System.
Go to Z1 Mirror Backup Control.

In Find an old file in the Archive enter the name of the file you wish to find. Wildcards can be used. So for example:

mydocument.doc would find just this one document.
my*.doc would find all Word documents starting with my.
*.doc would find all Word documents in the Archives (this would probably show so many results that it will be necessary to be more specific).

The matching files found in the Archives will appear in a list at the bottom of the page.
By clicking on a file in this list the folder containing the file will open in Windows Explorer (Note: in order for the folder to open it is necessary to use Internet Explorer as not all browsers allow this e.g. Firefox does not support this function). From here it can be deleted.

Note when finding files in the Archives you are searching an index which is refreshed once a day at the time the system backup and archiving takes place, generally 02:00 hours.

So having found a file in a Archive and then gone to the folder and deleted it, if you then do the same search it will still show in the list. However, if you then click the file, it will not show in the folder. In other words you have deleted the file but it is still listed in the index. If you search the next day (after the backup) it will no longer show as the index will have been updated.
