Backup & Archiving
The Zybert Backup and Archiving TripleA Technology - A Simple Explanation
By default the Zybert server will backup and archive every day at 02:00 hours. The main disk (the top caddy) will backup and archive to the lower disk. Never remove the top disk while the power is on.
This comprises two processes:
1) The normal concept of backing up is performed in as much as new data is appended to the backup. Changes to the server configuration, are also updated on the back up disk.
2) As well as new data, the process will archive. If a file resides on the backup disk and has been deleted during the day, it will not be deleted from the disk, but will be moved to an archive folder. All these folders are created on a daily basis thus making them easy to find. The only time a file will not be kept, is if a file is created and deleted on the same day.
It is possible to also have special backup jobs (Snapshots) during the day. For example an important database can be stored on the backup disk every 10 minutes. During the nightly backup this special backup will be removed after the normal backup has been safely carried out. If this is required, please contact Zybert or your reseller.
At the end of these processes the backup disk is then a fully working, bootable disk for immediate recovery of the system and an e-mail is sent to whom ever has been specified notifying them.
It is self evident that the backup disk must be swapped on a regular basis and kept in a FIRE PROOF enclosure or OFF THE PREMISES such that a quick recovery can be made in the event of a fire - theft - flood - accident.
